CARBOSE ® CMC
Carbose CMC is properly described as the sodium salt of carboxymethylcellulose, a cellulose ether. More informally, it is a water-soluble product made from naturally occurring cellulose by grafting small anionic groups onto the cellulose backbone. Because the cellulose is only partially modified, Carbose CMC is more biofriendly than, for example, acrylic or other synthetic polymers. This is because cellulose enzymes found in the environment are still able to break down the unmodified portions of the CMC molecule.

If your application calls for adsorption, adhesion, water binding, film forming, viscosifying or dispersing, particularly in an aqueous medium, you would do well to consider the properties of Carbose CMC and the value it can bring to your product.

Penn Carbose is North America's leading manufacturer of CMC for household and industrial detergents and offers a wide variety of CMC grades for specific applications. Let our technical experts review your application and recommend the Penn Carbose CMC for your needs. Call us at (814) 443-1611, fax (814) 445-8951, or leave your message on our message board.

The recommended Penn Carbose grades for different applications are outlined in the table below. Please go to specific industry or tech data on this site for more information.
